“Want Repeat Customers? Challenge Yourself with Custom Shirts!”

Here is the translation for tailors overseas

No deception works… But what kind of shirt would be perfect for you?

The fabric?

Measurements?

Fine details?

The dress shirt you wear to match your current suit is clothing, but the origin of the dress shirt is said to be underwear.

Shirts are underwear… Even in modern times, they are often worn directly on the skin.

So, taking measurements for shirts is difficult, and since they are worn directly on the skin, even a slight discomfort is easily felt, making it said that “there’s no hiding mistakes”.

However, in return, if you use high-quality fabric with perfect measurements, the comfort of wearing it naturally becomes good, and many people feel that they “can’t go back to ready-made products”.

※ And if the stitching (factory) is also good, that would be the best.

“Can’t hide mistakes” is a scary phrase, but if you make it with care, there’s a possibility that they’ll become repeat customers, so as a tailor, I think it’s worth a try.

Attention to Detail

Here are some details that will elevate your shirt!

Split Yoke

Set-In Sleeves

Gussets

And so on… There are many other small details, but I will introduce the above three points.

Split Yoke

For efficiency, the yoke is usually finished with one piece.

However, when the back center is sewn together as shown in the image, and finished with two pieces to match the slope of the shoulders, it’s called a “split yoke”.

This is to make it easier to move by utilizing the stretchability of the fabric to match the slope of the shoulders.

Set-In Sleeves

When sewing the sleeves to the sides (bodice), deliberately swing the sleeves forward and sew them slightly offset. This is called “set-in sleeves”.

Even though human arms appear to hang straight down, they are slightly forward.

Attaching the sleeves afterwards makes it easier to move the body.

Items with neatly aligned seams between the bodice and sleeves are easier to sew in the manufacturing process, so they are common in ready-made products.

However, by including this labor-intensive process, it becomes a testament to the quality of the product.

Gussets

Reinforcement fabric is sewn onto the seam of the hem where the front and back of the shirt are sewn together to prevent tearing from the seam.

This reinforcement fabric is called “gusset”.

The shape of the gusset varies depending on the sewing factory.

Although it’s not necessary for wearing, it makes it less likely to unravel and tear.

Let’s Create Repeat Customers!

With options like the ones mentioned above, it’s also great to bring out the uniqueness of each tailor from just a shirt.

Some tailors decide to include certain options as standard.

I believe we can also accommodate various other requests, so please give it a try!
