Introducing Gents’ Mitsuboshi Factory Suit Options

I would like to introduce the options available from the Mitsuboshi Factory, Gents.

Unlined (Single Layer)

  • In Gents’ order sheet notation, “Unlined” is listed as “単衣(Hitoe)”.

For materials like linen or cotton, many people prefer not to use lining to fully enjoy the lightness and texture of the fabric.

Many opt for this choice to achieve a lighter finish.

Due to the technical complexity involved, some individuals specify this option with particular attention to detail.

Functional Cuff (Split Cuff)

Functional cuffs refer to sleeves with buttonholes that actually work, allowing for opening and closing of the cuff.

Originally conceived to facilitate surgeons in rolling up their sleeves during surgery or examination.

The advantage of functional cuffs is the ease of rolling up the sleeves without disturbing the overall attire. It might be interesting to incorporate this feature into a casual jacket-and-trouser ensemble!

Sweat Guard

The sweat guard is a thin pad attached under the armpits of the jacket, designed to absorb sweat from the easily perspiring area.

It also protects the underarms from friction in high-movement activities, prolonging the life of the suit.

Additionally, it improves the slipperiness of the underarm area, enhancing comfort.

  • When “sweat guard” is specified with Gents, a triangular sweat guard is attached. If you request a round shape, it can be arranged accordingly.

Basting

There are different types of basting.

The above-mentioned basting is referred to as “corner basting.” There are also other types like “center basting.”

Basting is a specification designed to make it easier to replace the lining.

Change Pocket

“Change” refers to “coins” or “hard currency,” hence the name “Change Pocket” as it was traditionally used for carrying coins or tickets.

While the concept of a Change Pocket is strongly associated with Britain, there’s a theory suggesting that it was once used in Britain to carry ammunition during hunting.

It complements slim-fit British-style suits well, as it sits above the hip pocket, contributing to a lengthening effect on the legs and overall style enhancement.

What did you think?

While I could only introduce a few options this time, there are more available.

If you have any other specific requests or preferences, please don’t hesitate to ask!

Why not delve into the history of suit options and consider customizing your order based on that?
